It’s a little ironic that Goofy’s must well known tune to sing is “The World Owes Me A Living”, because he thinks it couldn’t be further than the truth. Goofy doesn’t think anyone owes him anything, and in fact likes almost everyone he meets automatically. It’s rare to find him without a happy go lucky smile on and a whistle in his mouth. It’s not a matter of something he found to be happy about – he sees it as there’s no reason not to be happy. He has so much to be grateful for and so he’s a bundle of joy no matter where he goes or what strange adventure he’s on next.
This does come with some naivety, though. He isn’t terribly bright, and he knows it, so he can be easily tricked and fooled. But unless the person who tricked him is actually evil and terrible, he doesn’t hold it against them. He knows his limits and isn’t ashamed to say he’s earned his namesake. It’s simply how things are and he doesn’t mind being a little slower than his friends. He spins it around, thinking he’s very lucky to have such smart friends.
However there are times when he’s shown to have some insight and ideas that others wouldn’t get just yet. He observes things most people would overlook, as he finds everything important, even the smallest details. It was this method of thinking that had him automatically deduce that Mulan/Ping was female, while his friends were entirely convinced she was a he. It also saved their hides back in their musketeer days, when he was able to come up with a plan to escape from the tower with a truly unusual method. But he doesn’t see these moments as him being smart or brilliant. In fact, when given a compliment, he tends to sheepishly under-exaggerate it.
His loyalty is unquestionable, be it to his king or to his friends. He would gladly lay down his life for his loved ones, and nearly does a few times, such as when he shoved Mickey out of the way of a boulder, without a beat of hesitation. He doesn’t enjoy fighting, which is why he carries a defensive shield, but he knows that there are bad people out there that need to be stopped. He is proud of his duties, but wouldn’t mind taking a nap now and then to relax.

This strange place sometimes came with the best surprises. Goofy hadn't expected fishing equipment to be available to him during his stay here, but he was overjoyed to find it. It wasn't much, and it might have been used a few times beforehand, but to Goofy it was pure beauty. He had been told by various folks around him that there wasn't much fish to catch, but he merely smiled and thanked them for the talk. They meant well, but they didn't understand why he fished. He supposed if he tried to explain it, he'd only confuse them.
He found a nice grassy area to sit on, and made himself comfortable. The idea to rent a boat hadn't occurred to him, but he didn't need one at the moment anyway. No, all he needed was the quiet serenity of the water as his bait bobbed up and down. It was a good day to fish, as the weather was warm, and his schedule was clear. He kept both hands steady on the rod, and allowed time to pass. He could hear the faint noises of bugs and birds chirping away, and he smiled as his thoughts began to drift. He wondered if there were different bugs and birds in all the world's he had visited. He wished he had time to see all of them.
He wished for a great many things, but if he thought on them too much, he would get upset. In fact, something had began to tug on the end of his rod! Startled out of his memories, he eagerly began to tug, wondering what rare treat he had caught. "Oh boy oh boy..." He said out loud, already rushing ahead to what his friends would say. Maybe it was a big trout! Or a tasty salmon! Whatever it was, it was sure putting up a fight. He tugged, and tugged, and tugged -
BONK!
- And hadn't expected that he'd hooked a shoe stuck in the muddy water. The shoe was free, but due to Goofy's intense tug of water, it had come flying straight for his head and made a direct hit. Goofy fell back, groaning in slight pain. Once he regained most of his consciousness, he'd ask around if anyone lost a shoe. For now, all he could think of was 'Owwww.'
